Why we built the grille from solid ash
Every material decision on Frejair started with the same question: would you want this in the room where you sleep? White ABS plastic — the default skin of every appliance — never survived that question.
Ash did. It's the wood of Danish furniture-making: light, straight-grained, and strong enough to machine into thin slats that won't warp with humidity. It takes oil beautifully and ages the way furniture ages — gaining character instead of yellowing.
The slats are solid, not veneer. They snap onto the chassis without tools, which means the grille can be swapped — a different wood, a repair, a refresh — without replacing the machine.
A machine you'd hide behind a curtain is a machine that failed at design. The grille is our promise that we did our job.
